Postdoctoral position: The “Ready to Connect” study

The Ready to Connect Study at the University of Connecticut is recruiting applicants for a postdoctoral position. The successful applicant will play a key role in an NIH-funded research project (PI: Inge-Marie Eigsti, Ph.D.) investigating the active ingredients of conversational success in autistic and non-autistic teenagers during realistic social interactions. The successful candidate will join the intellectually rich Language Sciences community at the University of Connecticut, with opportunities to collaborate with an outstanding group of scientists and clinicians and to build an independent research program.

We are especially interested in examining acoustic and psycholinguistic predictors of language abilities and conversational success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful incumbent will examine acoustic and psycholinguistic predictors of language abilities and conversational success. They will use machine learning to model conversational profiles based on interactional measures of linguistic processes drawn from spontaneous conversation, and standardized language assessments, and evaluate conversational success in neurotype-concordant and neurotype-discordant interactions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. PhD in a relevant field, such as Psychology or Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.
  2. A strong record of research productivity.
  3. Knowledge of psycholinguistics.
  4. Strong understanding of experimental design and analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Clinical experience with autism, as evidenced by Ph.D. thesis and/or publications.
  2. Expertise in psycholinguistics and cognitive psychology.
  3. Excellent writing and communication skills.

APPOINTMENT TERMS
